You can do:

<%= f.text_field :field1_or_field2_equals %>

Needless to say, if you get to the point where you're doing something
like...

<%=
f.text_field :field1_or_field2_or_field3_or_field4_or_field5_equals %>

...then you really don't want to be using something like MetaSearch --
you want to go with a fulltext search gem like Thinknig Sphinx.
