I work in the IT space and get more and more requests for Ruby gurus...even if you are not open to the DC area, reach out - it is likely that I know someone in your area.

OVERVIEW OF QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of IT experience in software development
  • At least 2 years of experience developing applications with Ruby on Rails (experience must be recent!)
  • Rails development for more than one customer
  • Experience working in a full systems development life cycle projects
  • Demonstrated experience working independently to deliver web applications
  • Ability to drive solutions to problems by identifying and evaluating alternatives
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred:

  • Ability to set up, configure, and deploy Java applications.
  • Experience working in a Red Hat Linux environment (preferably RHEL 6)
  • Training or certifications in Hadoop is a plus
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Knowledge of big data technologies, including Hadoop and NoSQL databases
  • Working knowledge of jQuery, HTML and CSS
  • Strong JavaScript background
  • Experience with Python
