I decided t
o install rvm with --rails and --autolibs=enable options, in order to avoid post installation dependency issues.
I found information about the --autolibs=enable option at this link.
I also updated Git as suggested by Laith Shadeed, because it seemed necessary.Configuring PostgreSQL for Rails might be my next step.
